Closure Announcement
Hello friends, sponsors, and partners among our Literacy Trust community,
Literacy Trust is incredibly proud of the remarkable impact we have had – serving thousands of NYC students, educators, and families and raising millions of dollars to create opportunities in under-resourced schools.
LT has always been responsive. During the pandemic, we immediately flipped our reading intervention program to being online, ultimately training over 300 staff across 50 schools to serve students at home in the spring of 2020. And, despite a significant drop in funding as the pandemic eased, we made additional shifts to offer multiple evidence-based reading intervention services that could benefit the full breadth of K-5th grade students, while also adding our Raising Readers at Home program for families, as well as training & consulting supports for teachers and school leaders.
We have been thrilled to see the launch of numerous NYC literacy initiatives and are proud to have contributed to that momentum in the more than 250 schools that we’ve served over the years. It is our hope that, collectively, these changes will lead to increasingly more children leaving school as the readers they absolutely must be. While Literacy Trust will no longer be a part of this movement, we are optimistic that more teachers, leaders, and families than ever before know what it takes to successfully support children throughout their reading journeys.
We are grateful to all of our staff, donor community, and partners who have gone above and beyond to help meet our mission in serving NYC school communities across all five boroughs.
Thanks to you...
Literacy Trust is working closely with key partners and staff to ensure a seamless transition to new providers where possible for the 2024-2025 school year. There is so much in our history to celebrate. We are proud of all that we have done to positively impact students, educators, and families for the last two decades, and we know that the torch will continue to be carried by numerous literacy champions across NYC.
