CORNEISHA CLARKE
Literacy Specialist
Before serving as a Literacy Specialist, Corneisha was the Associate Director of Program and a Senior Program Manager. Corneisha partners with schools and educators across her hometown of New York City (Brooklynite) to achieve their literacy goals through facilitating professional development, and provides ongoing support in implementing the literacy intervention program. Corneisha believes knowledge is power; if children are taught foundational literacy skills at an early age, they will open doors, never imagined to be unlocked. In this work, it is also very important to her that people of color are represented in education curriculum, especially literacy texts.
For the past seven years, Corneisha served as a K-4 educator and Academic Dean. Corneisha received her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Sociology from Binghamton University and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education.
When not at Literacy Trust, Corneisha can be found dancing (former after school dance coach), listening to music, shopping, traveling, playing with her daughter and spending quality time with family and friends.
